Used Motor Oil & Battery Curbside Collection

St. Charles residents can place used motor oil at the curb for collection on normal refuse collection days. The oil must be in plastic milk-jug type containers, with the cap, and clearly labeled “Used Oil.” The drained filters are also accepted for curbside recycling collection and must also be placed in a plastic container, such as a plastic milk container with the top cut off.

Special collections of used motor oil are also held at the Kane County Highway garage, Burlington & Empire Roads. No quantity is too large or too small. Drained filters are also accepted at no charge. For current dates and times, contact Kane County Environmental Management at (630) 208-5118.

Some retail locations accept up to 5 gallons of used motor oil per visit, during regular business hours. Following are St. Charles locations for used motor oil recycling:

  • Autopractor Inc., 1820 Production Drive, (630) 444-1414, accepts used motor oil and car batteries.
  • Valvoline Instant Oil Change, 1302 E. Main, (630) 377-5823, accepts used motor oil.

Household batteries are collected curbside for recycling. This is a safe and effective way to keep hazardous chemicals out of landfills! Batteries should be tied in a clear plastic bag and left at the curb on normal refuse collection days.
