For the Week of September 2, 2013

Restoration work on the Municipal Building continues on schedule this week. Window replacements on the upper floor of the east elevation of the Old City Hall and South Annex building have been completed, with the exception of the large “garage door” type window. Replacement of the limestone base and stone copings is underway and a final washing of this elevation is scheduled in the coming weeks.

The roofing contractor has completed the replacement work on all the roof sections. Only minor finishing touches are left to wrap up as the interface between the roof and the outward facing elevations are completed.

Masonry demolition work has been completed on the east elevation of Municipal Building and the final stages of the protective fluid are done.  Work has begun on the installation of the new “blonde” brick, and the wall construction is taking shape from the bottom up.

Future work in the coming weeks will include continued metal restoration work, new louvers on the cupola and replacement of the “eyebrow” windows.  Also look for preparations to restore the fire escape on the Municipal Building and some more drive-it repairs.
