Hydrant Flow Testing

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (August 16, 2022) – The St. Charles Fire Department will be conducting Hydrant Flow Testing at 315 S. Kirk Rd. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. The test will begin at approximately 8:00 A.M. and finish by 9:00 A.M. the same day.

Two Juveniles Charged with Setting Fire at Former Pheasant Run Resort

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin and St. Charles Chief of Police James Keegan announced today that two male juveniles have been charged with starting a three-alarm fire at the former Pheasant Run resort on North Avenue. Two additional male juveniles have each been charged with trespassing at the resort as well. Read the entire press release on the DuPage County State's Attorney's website here.

100 Block Whittington Course, St. Charles

The St. Charles Fire Department responded to a residence on Whittington Course at approximately 3 am for a report of a smoke in a building. The first St. Charles fire engine arrived on the scene in under 4 minutes and found smoke and active fire inside the house. The incident was upgraded to a General Alarm. The firefighters worked to bring the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. The fire was contained to the contents involved upon arrival with fire damage to the contents estimated at $10,000. Two occupants were home at the time of the fire.

Business Cited for Selling Tobacco to Minors

Mayor Lora Vitek, acting as Liquor Control Commissioner, enforced local tobacco ordinances for five local businesses cited for selling tobacco/alternative nicotine products to minors.

The citations were considered at the June 20, 2022, hearing of the St. Charles Liquor Control Commission. The Commission considers alcohol, tobacco and massage license issues. The following businesses were required to submit a $250 fine and $500 in court costs:

Building Slated for Demolition Offered Rare Training Opportunity

The St. Chares Fire Department hosted a multi-department training in conjunction with the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) Cornerstone Training Program June 13-15, 2022. St. Charles firefighters were joined by members of the Geneva, Batavia and Elburn fire departments for the training, which took place at the former PNC Bank building, 2600 E. Main Street in St. Charles.

Extra Police Patrols out July 4th

In addition to extra officers working to help direct traffic and assist pedestrians crossing the roadways during the annual 4th of July fireworks celebration, the St. Charles police department advised they also will have additional patrols out specifically seeking impaired motorists. The safety campaign will run from June 16 through the early-morning hours of July 5 to encompass three summer weekends leading up to and after Independence Day.
