S. Riverside Ave. Lane Closure

Southbound Lane to Close 7 a.m. - 3 p.m., 2/19 - 3/21

The southbound lane of S. Riverside Ave./IL Rte. 25 will be closed 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Feb. 19 to March 21, 2024, to accommodate work on the City of St. Charles Riverside Lift Station Replacement Project. Contractors will be demolishing the old lift station on the west side of Riverside Ave. In addition to the lane closure, these areas will be impacted:

2024 IMUA Scholarship Program Applications Available

Four $1,000 Scholarships to be Awarded; Deadline is March 8, 2024

The City of St. Charles, in partnership with the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association (IMUA), is offering four $1,000 scholarships to eligible high school students.

To qualify, applicants must be high school seniors whose parents or legal guardians are residential customers of City of St. Charles utilities. Eligible students must submit an application and essay of 500 words or less addressing one of four utility-related questions. Applications and essays are due March 8, 2024.

St. Charles Mental Health Board to Consider Funding Requests

Agency Applications Due March 9, 2024

The St. Charles 708 Community Mental Health Board will consider requests for funding for fiscal year 2024-2025 at its annual meeting April 17, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the St. Charles Municipal Building, 2 E. Main Street.  

Last fiscal year, the City Council approved $632,269 be distributed by the Mental Health Board to 21 qualified not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) agencies. These agencies serve the residents of St. Charles by providing services related to mental disorders, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, and drug abuse.

City of St. Charles Recognized for Hiring Veterans

U.S. Department of Labor Awards City with HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award

For the sixth consecutive year, the U.S. Department of Labor has presented the City of St. Charles with the HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award. The award recognizes the City for employing military veterans, and is part of the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017 (HIRE Vets Act).

City Paves the Way for Pheasant Run Demolition

At an emergency hearing Sept. 28, 2023, the City of St. Charles requested and was granted an Emergency Petition for Appointment of Receiver of the site of the former Pheasant Run Property. This action paves the way for demolition of the buildings remaining on the site.

The receiver, Great Lakes Property Services LLC, is now authorized to take immediate possession of the property, erect a security fence around the perimeter of the property, undertake an environmental evaluation of the buildings and site, and obtain bids for demolition of the buildings.
