June Utility Bills Reflect Rate Changes for Water and Sewer

No Change for Electric Rates

Utility rate adjustments for City of St. Charles water, sewer, and electric utility customers were approved at the May 1, 2023, City Council meeting and become effective on the utility bills issued in June. At the meeting, a 6% increase in water rates and sewer rates was approved. The City recommended no adjustments in the electric rates.

St. Charles Police Join Initiative to Combat Child Exploitation

The offices of the Kane County State's Attorney and Kane County Sheriff recently launched the Child Exploitation Unit, aimed at stopping the distribution of child pornography and online exploitation of children.

The Unit was created in collaboration with the St. Charles Police Department, which is providing office and technology space where a computer forensics expert can analyze electronic devices for evidence of crimes committed.

Inventory of Water Service Lines Underway

Looking to Identify Water Service Lines Made with Lead

The City of St. Charles is performing an inventory of water service lines to identify lines made with lead, as required by the Illinois Lead Service Line Replacement & Notification Act. The water service line is the smaller pipe that delivers water from the City water main to homes or businesses. To collect information for the inventory, the City is sending water customers an online survey to complete, which includes instructions on how to identify their water service line material.

Paymentus Online Convenience Fee for Utility Bill Payments

Beginning May 1, 2022, the City stopped covering the Paymentus transaction fees for online utility bill payments. A convenience fee of $3.95 will be applied to all utility payments made online or over the phone through Paymentus. However, there are ways to pay your utility bill that do not incur the fee.
