Child Restraint Seat Checks

car seat checksAs a courtesy to City of St. Charles residents, the St. Charles Police Department conducts car seat safety inspections to verify that child restraint seats are installed correctly and used safely. Our child restraint seat technicians will also teach the vehicle/seat owners the proper installation and use of the car seat.

The St. Charles Police Department conducts car seat checks for residents, by appointment only, in the garage area located on the north side of the Police facility at 1515 W. Main St.

In an effort to support working parents, grandparents, and others in need of having a car seat checked, the department makes every effort to offer a variety of appointment times throughout the month on Thursdays. Appointments are scheduled in 45-minute increments. One appointment slot is required for each car seat that needs to be checked. Please be sure to bring all components of the seat to your appointment; including both the base and carrier for infant car seats.

Appointments may be made by calling Community Service Officer Ryan Beeter at (630) 443-3865 Monday through Wednesday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays between 4:00 p.m. and midnight or via email at rbeeter@stcharlesil.gov. Please provide your address when calling for an appointment.

Further information regarding child restraint seats and seat belts is available through the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office at http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/childsafety.html.
