At 10:21 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, the St. Charles Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in a townhome located in the 500 block of Pheasant Trail. The first unit arrived on scene five minutes later and reported an active fire on a second-floor deck that had extended up the vinyl siding on the rear of the building. The townhome and adjoining residence were searched and confirmed all occupants where safe outside the building. The majority of the exterior fire was extinguished by the first arriving fire companies within three minutes of their arrival. The firefighters then completed extinguishment, checked for any fire extension, and performed overhaul operations.
The damage to property and contents is estimated at $30,000. The homeowner was alerted by neighbors and had evacuated the building prior to arrival of the St. Charles Fire Department. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries at this incident. The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted at this incident by the St. Charles Police Department and fire Departments from Geneva, Batavia, Elburn, West Chicago, and North Aurora. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
