Underground utility work at the intersection of S 1st Street and Walnut Street at the entrance to the parking garage was completed as planned late last week and the entrance was opened prior to Friday afternoon with a temporary riding surface installed. This surface will remain in place until concrete paving work begins later in the project plan. Thank you for your patience while traveling in this area.
Progress has continued on the new concrete retaining walls that will support the walkway up from the river walk to the new plaza and the new concrete bench and sidewalk near the existing river walk has been completed. The project team is excited to see new features being completed and to see more work literally coming out of the ground leading up to the plaza space. Foundation work for the trellis and aggregate backfill will continue this week along with the installation of the supporting structure for seat walls and landscape beds.
