Fox Valley Marathon Road Closures

This Weekend

The 2023 Fox Valley Marathon will be held Sunday, September 17, from 7:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m. The marathon will begin in St. Charles on the Illinois Street Bridge. The run continues south to Aurora before returning to the finish line back in St. Charles.

Several roadways in St. Charles will be affected by the marathon:

Main Street to Close 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday

For St. Charles East High School Homecoming Parade

The 2023 St. Charles East High School Homecoming Parade will be held on Main Street (Illinois Rt. 64) this Thursday, August 31.  Main Street will be closed between 5th Ave. (IL Rt. 25) east of the river to 7th Street on the west side of the river for the parade. Police will implement a detour route beginning at 12:45 p.m. through approximately 1:30 p.m.

St. Charles Police Increased Patrols During Upcoming Labor Day Weekend

As Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer near, the St. Charles Police Department is partnering with law enforcement throughout the state to stop impaired driving and help save lives.  

The high-visibility “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign will run between August 16th and September 5th.   During this period, motorists in St. Charles can expect to see stepped-up impaired driver patrols and seat-belt enforcement.  Officers will also be looking for distracted drivers and those speeding.

Structure Fire at 4051 E. Main St. - Pheasant Run

At 7:22 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, the St. Charles Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at 4051 East Main Street, in a building located on the grounds of Pheasant Run Resort. The first unit arrived on scene five minutes later and reported an active fire on the second floor. The building was searched which confirmed there were no occupants. The fire was extinguished by the first on-scene fire companies within 15 minutes of their arrival. The firefighters then completed extinguishment, checked for any fire extension, and performed overhaul operations.

St. Charles Police to Begin Testing Body Cameras

The St. Charles Police Department has begun the process of testing Body Worn Camera devices, which will last for the next several months. Select patrol officers will be wearing the cameras during their shifts to learn about their functionality and evaluate a few different Body Worn Camera systems and vendors.  State law mandates that an agency with a population the size of the city of St. Charles will need to implement its Body Warn Camera system by January 1, 2025. 4th of July Fireworks Traffic Advisory

Road Closures & Parking Restrictions

With the announcement that this year’s 4th of July fireworks would be deployed from Langum Park, the Police Department advised a couple temporary road closures would need to occur while the fireworks are deployed, as well as some parking restrictions that would be in place for the day of the event. Officers and EMA personnel will be at key locations on both the east and west side of the Fox River to help move vehicles around the temporary road closures. The following roadways will be affected:

Additional Patrols for the 4th of July

In addition to extra officers helping direct traffic and assist pedestrians crossing the roadways during the annual 4th of July fireworks celebration, the St. Charles Police Department also will have additional patrols out specifically seeking impaired motorists. The safety campaign will run from June 16 through the early-morning hours of July 5 to encompass three summer weekends leading up to and after Independence Day.
